Effective April 1, Alex Housten has joined dormakaba as the designated new Chief Operating Officer for Access Solutions AMER, which includes businesses in the USA, Canada, Mexico and South America. As such, he will serve as a member of the dormakaba Group Executive Committee. Housten will be based in the company’s Americas headquarters in Indianapolis.
“The dormakaba portfolio includes some of the most trusted solutions in the access control market,” said Housten. “I’m honored to join the rest of dormakaba’s talented, forward-thinking team of professionals as a steward for our customers.”
Housten will continue to lead dormakaba with a growth-oriented strategy based on innovation, customer-first mentality and bringing the best of breed products to market to serve as a better industry partner.
“Urbanization is changing the world of access,” said Housten. “This infrastructure shift requires new security solutions that incorporate technology appropriately and work across a wide range of demographics in increasingly diverse settings. We will continue to create products, solutions and services that help make access smarter and more secure for all of our customers.”
Before joining dormakaba, Housten held progressive leadership positions at Carrier Corporation, a subsidiary of United Technologies Corporation (UTC). His most recent role was as Vice President and General Manager of Carrier’s Fire & Security Products Americas business. Housten holds Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering and Master of Business Administration degrees from Purdue University.
